♥ We've had a gorgeous start to our Easter holidays here, the weather has been glorious. We're enjoying our first real taste of Spring warmth and oh it does feel good! On Saturday afternoon we packed up a picnic tea and headed a couple miles out of town to throw down a blanket and set up camp beside the water. It was lovely, truly lovely. Good food (hard boiled eggs, creamy goats cheese, vine ripened tomatoes, prosciutto ham, crusty bread, crisp apples, a punnet of sweet strawberries and some chocolate eggs), a stunning view (the reservoir was oh-so-blue), happy children (building dens, throwing rocks in the water, discovering toads, toddling in the grass), and general all round Spring enjoyment.
♥ I managed to squeeze in a decent bit of hooky time over the weekend too and finished off the edgings to my granny bunting (remember it from this post?). I've made twenty triangles which now need to be coaxed into Good Shape and blocked out before I can join them together. It's looking good! I've been very industrious with the hooky lately, it's been very liberating working on lots of different smaller projects after the long haul of completing the Sweet Flower granny blanket early in the year. I've got the Spring flower to show you, plus another decorative Little Something I managed to finish off this morning...for once I'm making stuff faster than I can blog about it!! I'll try to bring it all up to date very soon I promise.
♥ I'm at home this week with my three Little Peeps, it feels good to be free of routine but it's also quite a challenge being home with the LP these days. The amount of energy needed for this job is not to be underestimated :: right now it's 9pm and I am completely shattered. Next week we are all looking forward to a change of pace and a change of scene as we head down to Dorset for a spell of sea breezes and delicious days, I really cannot wait.
♥ Thank you as always for bobbing by to see me, your comments and enthusiastic words really do buoy me up when days are long and demanding. Thankyouthankyouthankyou, I'm sending each and every one of you a warm, squishy hug of appreciation!
See you soon xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

It sounds as though you had a good weekend, Lucy! Enjoy the sunshine and have a lovely holiday with your family. Full marks to your son's cake!

I can't believe how wonderful the cake looked and cooked by your son too. Lazy afternoons by the water sound perfect Lucy, a gentle reminder for me to seize the day. Caught up with all your posts and adored the Japanese flowers scarf. The Debbie Bliss yarn looks delicious, in fact I love all her new yarns at the moment. I need a large dollop of cash for a yarn spend as nearly at the end of my Dottie Angel year.
WIshing you a wonderful week in Dorset.

Another lovely post Lucy, all bright and sunny, we have been thrown into winter weather, brrrr. I came across a new yarn shop last week and they had the Debbie Bliss Andes yarn, it is gorgeoussss!!! I did so much stroking and sighing, I'm surprised they didn't tell me off. I came away with a couple of bargins.
Enjoy your time off, I loved spending time with my little ones and that cake looks better than what I make :(

We are on school holidays at our place too. It's totally wonderful to have my boys home with me. It's been a long 11 week school term and I missed them too much. I totally agree with the choccie hit, compare a day of working at school, studying and being Mum is nothing to having two energetic little people at home full time to play with. Enjoy your little ones home with you and have a fabulous rest of week.

Lovely photos, have a great week away from routine. I too am on holidays now and it's wonderful to be lying in bed blogging when I'm usually busy getting ready for work.

What beautiful pictures! Your little man will be a chef in no time.
Being a teacher, I can well appreciate how much energy it takes to look after little people all day! :-) Try 30 of them at once... So I am enjoying the Easter break too. With NO kids! (Bliss).
Although I do envy you... it would be nice to have some of my own.
How on earth you find time to hook with them at home I don't know. Hats off to you and I hope you enjoy your holiday. I really hope the weather holds up for you, because it has been beautiful here in Sussex.

Oh man, now i want some lemon cake!! lol. The colours used for your bunting are gorgeous. I've been thinking about doing bunting for my lounge window but have't found the time yet! (too many on going projects!) I might just to have to prioritise them now. Yours look yummy! Enjoys Easter and your little people! Cindy x

I LOVE SPRING!
though it feels more like summer (yesterday it was in the 90's day before 85!)we have been doing lots more out of doors, and i cant wait for our first picnic, my baby hasn't ever been on one... i think that's a bit sad, don't think southerners do picnics, growing up we did them lots but I'm from the north, since we moved to Georgia I've not seen one person picnicking!!

This is the second post I have seen today about Lemon Cake.
It looks like it's unavoidable, time to bake one here!

Hi Lucy, love the sounds of your lovely weekend. Your picnic foods are all some of my favorites. I can't wait for a spring picnic in the future. Once the weather turns here in New England and the ground dries up. The stack of brilliant bunting colors are so exciting and candy to my eyes. Can't wait for your ta-da! Your little man is really getting into the baking. That's so cute and good for you too! Have a nice week and holiday. xoRobin❤

Hi Lucy, such a nice picnic for you all! We are having a bit of sun and warmth here in Oregon and I just tidied the picnic table on the deck so it's ready for alfresco dining. Hubby is cleaning the filter in our waterfall and pond and filling it with a bit more water. Fun to see the Hosta coming up, the Bleeding Heart just showing some baby blooms.. ahhh Spring.
Waving from across the earth... Teresa

Hi Lucy,
lovely photo's again.
I love to see where you live, it's so different from my place. You can look very far away, hills with not so many trees. It's beautiful!!

I never thought that much about buntings before I happened upon your blog. Now I know that my life will not be complete until I make my very own crochet bunting. Thank you for your inspiration!

Thank you for making my long days feel a bit more bearable as well!! Especially as we've had a sick house the past 2 weeks. It's funny how knowing that you're not the only one helps you to manage just one more game of .... (insert favourite game here) before bed, deal with one more whinge, resist yet another request for chocolate easter eggs, attend to the midnight earaches, read Princess, Princess again ... you know what I mean!
And then, when they're in bed, calm descends and it's yarn time!!
Mmmm ... I think a dinner-time picnic sounds great for tonight, just before the cold sets in here on the other side of the world ...
