A few pictures taken late on Saturday afternoon, the last day of October.
We often drive out of our town a few miles to walk around this quiet little reservoir sitting peacefully beneath The Crag.
Occasionally we do undertake a climb Up to the top of The Crag.
But most often we are content to walk rather lazily beneath it.
If you are age five and seven, the water provides paddling/stone-throwing opportunities which are very attractive.
And if you are age forty and forty one, the scenery provides soul-refreshment opportunities which are very attractive.
Yes, we like this type of lazy weekend walking.

Lovely scenery. No wonder it attracts people of different ages.

Lovely! It looks so peaceful. I know how fun stone-throwing is for kids in that age. My boys, 5 and 9, love that, and I must say, it can be quite fun even for grown ups... :)
Take care!

Oh what perfectly beautiful places you have to walk in! That mirror-like water is just made for breaking with the splosh of a big stone!

What a beautiful walk, I think it would be hard to go back inside after seeing those views. Of course a good cup of tea and snuggling up with some crochet might temp me in as well.

'Wow' that is an Autumn walk!
When you mentioned a weekend walk I had images of lots of trees and leaves.
Stunning and breath taking all rolled into one. That's definitely beats my leaf scrunching!
Have a lovely day and I hope all is well,

Hello Lucy
Just my kind of weekend! I've just come back from a weekend in Dorset where I once lived. It does wonders for the soul!
Take care

Lucy ~ what a beautiful walk and the Autumn scenery and colours are wonderful. I had a very lovely ~ but very wet ~ weekend in the Highlands of Scotland and the Autumn colours there were very similar but as it was so wet I didn't get much walking done. I have still to find the time to upload the pictures to my blog too! :O)

Haven't you got lots of lovely readers Lucy? I've especially enjoyed reading the comments of the last couple of posts - you attract nice people you see! You certainly live in a wonderful place - I clicked on your links and was glad I did; it did look cold in the winter but it sounds like you had great fun. What a great place for little people, perfect for dipping toes in - I wonder if it was a bit cold though on Saturday? We haven't all got your wonderful landscape on our doorstep, but most of us have something beautiful nearby and we should make up our minds to go and see it. I live in London but even so there are some really wonderful green-spaces and parks to shuffle about in the leaves and collect sweet chestnuts; I'm not far from woodland either and the lovely Kent countryside is not far off (I should visit it more often). The world is a beautiful place and we probably all live near-by a little bit we can enjoy. Stunning image of a brooding sky. No matter what the weather, there's always something special for us to see and capture - in our mind's eye if not on camera! Thanks for bringing us yours and reminding us what's out there. Hope your decorating etc is all going well.

Some of those fantastic views look really familiar, but I can't quite put my finger on why... So off now to rack my childhood school outing memories! (obviously these were had before health and safety became an issue!)

Dear Lucy great photos. I have a friend that lives in Yorkshire and it reminds me of some of the walks I have done with her.
weather in this part of the world was torrential rain this morning but at midday the sun came out with blue sky! Have just
taken delivery of a new charger for the camera(as I mislaid the original one) Will be off to my local woods to take some snaps.
Am starting my crochet robin this evening!
I hope you are putting your feet up at some point during the day and resting.
Best Wishes Sarah west midlands.

Your pictures are lovely. We have had beautiful days here in West Virginia USA....every morning is just lovely. I so enjoy your blog and appreciate the time it takes to teach us all how to try and mimic your beautiful creations. You have awakened a colorful side to me that I did not realize I had.....so I'm off to piles of yarn for granny squares (with flowers) but before that I think I must make little birdies for my Christmas tree!! Now look what you have done. Enjoy your little ones.....nothing better than that, and we will enjoy your posts when you have time. Isn't it wonderful the way blogs link us all across continents?
